Creativity
and Beauty
Creating
a typical Martha Child senior community is approximately a year long process
combining intricate planning with design and logistical expertise. Designing
a typical community for 100 residents consists of coordinating over 5,000-6,000
items.
We
handle design decisions on carpeting, paint, wallpaper, light fixtures, furnishings,
artwork and accessories. We also design special furniture pieces that work
specifically with the overall design of the home.
Using
the theories, best practices and innovative ideas established by Martha, a
staff of over 15 designers executes the design process with Martha evaluating
and reviewing each project.
We
oversee renovations and maintenance for many existing communities. Once completed,
we will carry out periodic evaluations of the environment to determine a schedule
for future renovations.
Focusing on the Needs of Seniors
We believe that a beautiful environment is a healthy environment.
Designing
a community for seniors is about:
- Enhancing a setting and adding emotion to it.
- Understanding local tastes and the native architecture of the area.
- Creating a community with sensitivity to the cultural and emotional attributes
of the residents living there.
Our
goal is to connect with residents through their surroundings, ultimately providing
them a higher quality of life.
Bringing
a senior living community to life requires a special understanding of the
problems older people face including:
Comfort
Safety
Affordability
Maintainability
Beauty
Human
Factors Considerations
A beautiful atmosphere can make all the difference in the world. But beauty
without functionality doesn't serve the needs of the residents, the staff
or the sponsor of the community.
Our
staff is expert in understanding the human factors specifications
unique to these developments, including:
Stability
and mobility of furniture.
Special
issues such as incontinence: we offer creative ways to use materials in a
dignified and eye-appealing manner.
Designing
and outfitting Alzheimer's facilities: we've earned national recognition for
our life-skills installations. Using furniture and accessory items to support
patterns of daily living, we design these installations to enhance feelings
of success and accomplishment.
We
work with the operations staff and activity directors to ensure that furniture
and accessories for each room work in conjunction with the activities envisioned.
